my roots

I grew up in Cuba, a place where getting creative wasn’t optional, it was just life. As a kid, I spent countless hours writing stories, making art, and wandering around nature. Boredom often pushed me to experiment. At 12, I taught myself how to fix computers, and software just for fun. Those early days sparked my curiosity and made me resourceful and adaptable, skills that are still core to everything I do today.

Transitioning from medicine to UX

Originally, I became a physician because I wanted to help people. My medical training taught me how to break down complex problems, spot hidden clues, and connect dots quickly; skills critical when lives were on the line. Later, I found a new avenue to reach and support people through technology and design, demonstrating how digital tools could help people at a larger scale.

What I'm doing now

Currently, I’m a Senior Product Designer at Cisco, designing advanced security tools that help people and organizations stay protected from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, especially vital in today's rapidly evolving AI landscape, where threats constantly emerge in diverse and unpredictable ways. I’m lucky to be part of an incredible team of innovators, forward-thinkers, and stellar designers.

Storytelling matters

Your craft alone isn’t enough, if you can't clearly communicate your ideas, they simply won't get built.

Collaboration unlocks potential

Ideas created in isolation lead to fixed thinking. Embrace teamwork, leverage individual strengths, and build amazing solutions together.

Shipping is everything

Great designs have zero intrinsic value until users start using and adopting the solutions. Ship early, learn fast, and iterate continuously.

Be curious and adaptable

Stay open-minded, embrace change, and never stop learning. A growth minset fuels innovation, allowing you to experiment, and refine solutions.
